Evaluation of microfacies of Mishrif Formation in Nassyria Oil Filed, south of Iraq

Four wells namely Ns-1, Ns-2, Ns-3, and Ns-5 were selected to study facies characteristics of the formation and try to correlate them with oil filed production. Thirty seven thin sections were taken from archive of south oil company, in addition to fifty seven thin sections which prepared by author to enhance results. Seven main microfacies and eight submicrofacies were identified depending on funa content, lithology, and texture. Results indicate that the formation was deposited under wide spectrum of depositional environments starting with open marine at lower part and ended with open lagoon at upper part. Diagenesis processes were observed through microscopic examination of thin sections including compaction, stylolite, newmorphism, cementation, dolomatization, solution, pressure solution, and mechanical distinegration. These processes play a role in deterioration and enhancement porosity of the formation. Bioclastic wackstone submicrofacies, benthonic form. wackstone submicrofacies, benthonic form. submicrofacies, and bioclastic grainstone microfacies are the most important reservoir microfacies founded.

Chemical and Physical properties of common water in area and evaluation degree for Irrigation in Basra /Iraq.

Due to the scarcity of water quality degradation in recent years in Iraq in general and specially in Basra province Particular study carried out by selecting two source of irrigation water ,one of them was a branch of Shatt Al-Arab at the site of the University of Basra / Garmat Ali , and the other was wastewater of University of Basra / Garmat Ali . Wastewater was treated in the field using sand filter and used as a third source of irrigation, in addition to tap water as control treatment for field experiment . Irrigation water samples were collected through three seasons. Chemical and physical properties of irrigation water were identified ,and evaluated the suitability of irrigation water for irrigation according to American salinity laboratory 1954, Ayers and Westcot 1985 , American Environmental Protection Agency, and FAO[1992] Food and Agriculture Organization . Results of chemical and physical analysis for four irrigation water during the studied seasons showed that the average values of electrical conductivity, pH, Calcium ,Magnesium, Sodium, Sulfate ,Chloride concentration were [1.53-10.53 dsm-1],[7.4-7.9],[130.66-672 mg L-1],[29.16-327.04 mg L-1],[311.8-914.23mgL-1],[275.46-859.41 mg L-1],[521.2-1806 mg L-1] respectively and heavy metals[Cd,Cu,Pb,Zn,B] were[0.052-0.88 mg L-1],[0.026-0.67 mg L-1],[0.03-0.26 mg L-1],[0.021-0.[24] mg L-1 ],[1.17-3.5 mg L-1] and physical properties[TSS and TDS]were [159.33-3235 mg L-1],[981.33-6233.33 mg L-1] and biological properties[COD and BOD]were[1.31-564 mg L-1],[1.02-75.85 mg L-1]. The results of statistical analysis showed the presence of a significant difference between the types of used water for some chemical properties. The irrigation water quality was with very high salinity for for Shatt Al-Arab river American salinity laboratory 1954 and intermediate to high salinity according to Ayers and Westcot 1985 and has effect on planted crops.

The Effect of Garlic Extract on Microbial Growth in Artificial Diets and it's Relation with the Vitality of Cyprinus carpio L. Juveniles

The effect of garlic extract was studied as a food additive and antimicrobial growth in the diets given to the juveniles of carp fish Cyprinus carpio L. . The juveniles was brought from M.S.C. aquaculture station and cultured in 35 litters water capacity plastic containers with culture density 1 juvenile/ 2 litters water , the experiment lasted for 60 days , the containers were classified according to the diet types given to the fish with two replicates for each diet . Four diets had been made , diet A with no garlic additive , and B ,C,D with 5 % , 10% and 15% garlic extract distributed in the containers (1,2) ,(3,4),(5,6) and (7,8) respectively , the diets given to the fish twice a day . A microbial cultures had been tested for all the A,B,C and D diets within 15 , 30 and 60 days during the experiment period , it is shown that less microbial growth occurred in the diets D,C and B respectively compared with the control diet A . The best fish growth was shown by fish given C diet and then the fish given B,D and A diets respectively . The ecological measurements taken to the water containers during the experiment period were in the appropriate limits for carp fish growth .

This study was conducted in the plant pathology laboratory /college of Education and in the date palm research center laboratories' /Basra University
cultural properties of these strains such as, colonies forms and colors on different media ,presence of pigment in the agar and measurement of diameter of colonies, as well as the morphological characters namely branches conidiophores, shapes and dimensions of phailids, conidia , besides Chlamydospores.
slides cultures was photographed by photomicroscope and drawn by using camera Lucida to illustrate its morphological characterizations with exact scale bar.
A number of taxonomical keys were used for classification and identification of strains of this fungus.
Four strains of the species T. atroviride were recorded for the first time in Iraq. Classification of these strains has been confirmed by international mycological institute in Britain and it gaves a number for each strain(IMI 501762,IMI 501466,IMI 501467,IMI
50 1472).

Bioactivity of of ethylacetat extract of green alga Cladophora crispate against Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia parasites compared with Metronidazole (Flagyl) drug in vivo

The present study included testing the biological activity of ethylacetat extract of green algae Cladophora crispate against Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia parasites at concentrations( 0.10, 0.15 ,0.2, 0.25mg / ml) compared with the metronidazole (Flagyl) drug at concentration (30 mg / ml) in laboratory mice Mus musculus strain Balb / c, the results showed that Hexadecanoic acid ethyl ester and Phytol and Hexatriacontan compounds which isolated and diagnosed in the extract by gas chromatography - mass spectrometry ( GC-Mass) technology are effective against these parasites , E.histolytica parasite was eliminated in the sixteenth day at 0.25 mg / ml of extract compared with Flagyl drug which eliminated this parasite in the seventeenth day , while G.lamblia parasite was eliminated in the sixteenth day at 0,2 mg / ml of extract compared with Flagyl drug which is eliminated this parasite in the sixteenth day , and the results showed that the therapeutic efficacy of extract and Flagyl drug are close to each other , the therapeutic efficacy of extract and drug against E.histolytica was ( 76.93 % and 80.41 % , respectively) , while the therapeutic efficacy of extract and drug against G.lamblia was ( 81.85 % and 83.34 % , respectively).

Study of Some Physical Properties of Fresh, Frozen and Rendered Animal Fats

Some physical properties, refractive index and specific gravity and viscosity, density, melting point of fresh, frozen and rendered animal fat were studied. The refractive indexmean values in fresh fat (40 º C) ranged from1.4523 in buffalo fat to 1.4715 in camels fatand in frozen fat ranged 1.4495 in buffalo fat to 1.4655 in camels fat ,and in rendered fat was 1.4435 in buffalo to 1.4572 in camels fat.The specific weight Mean ranged from between 0.959 to 0.970 in fresh fat and in frozen fat between 0.952 to 0.969 and in rendered fat 0.831 to 0.841.Viscosity averages ranged between 14.1077 centipoise (cP). to camels fat and 15.66354 centipoise (cP)to buffalo fat . in frozen fat viscosity ranged from ( 13.9321 (centipoise (cP) for mutton tail fat fat and the highest Average viscosity values of the of buffalo fat ( 14.9513 ) centipoise (cP). Rendered fat viscosity values averages ranged between 17.2112 centipoise (cP). Camels fat to 18.6145 centipoise (cP) for fat buffalo . The results showed that the viscosity was not significantly affected by the freeze, but was significantly affected by the process of rendered. And for the Density average values in fresh fat between 0.877 and 0.8901 in cows fat and buffalo fat and the average density values for frozen fat was ranged between 0.8767 to 0.8898 for the cows and camels fat . The values of density average ranged in rendered fat between the lowest value 0.8569 for cows fat and the highest value of the density in mutton tail fat 0.8837. The density not affected significantly by the freezing treatment, but rendering has affected the density significantly. The melting point averages ranged in fresh fat between 41.5 º C in mutton tail fat and the highest melting point was in buffalo fat 47.5 º C. in frozen fat the melting point values ranged between the less value for mutton tail fat 40.75 º C and the highest melting point of buffalo fat 47.50 ºC. in rendered fat the average melting point values ranged between 43.50 ºC for the mutton tail fat and the highest melting point of the buffalo fat 49.50 º C. melting point have been affected by freezing and rendering treatment significantly.

Isolation & identification of insects & importance some of them in infection in aquatic birds with three parasities in Basrah Province

Result show, that, 71 of 350 of aquatic birds were found some insects in their gizzard, seven species of them belong to six famlies and four orders, there were Ischnura evansi, Aeshina sp., Sympetrium sp., Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa , Schisrtocerca gregaria, Cybister tripunctatus & Chironomus pseudothmmi , may be play a role of transmission of three parasites these are , Plagiorches spp., Tetrameres sp. & Microtetrameres spiralis to the local aquatic birds. The hightest present of insects reached 100 % in Bubulcus ibis, where meanwhile, the lower present 7% in Gallinula chloropous. Seven species of insect were described and illustrated by digital camera.

New record of the digenitic trematod Plagiorchis bulbulii Mehra,1937 in house sparrow , Passer domestics( L.)
